Some helpful information for Young People who are connected with Care Visions Fostering Scotland.

We are really proud to have supported carers to help the children and young people develop and thrive in safe, loving and supportive environments. We work closely with those that you live with and look after you to make sure that they are best meeting and supporting your needs. We are also pleased to be constantly developing our work so that it is best focused and involves you - the children and young people.

There might however be something that you think we should know about, or possibly something that you want to talk about to someone not connected to Care Visions. The info on this page will hopefully help if you ever need to do that.

Info if you have a problem:

We understand that when you are living in a home with another family there is a chance that there can sometimes be misunderstandings, difficulties or problems. This may include issues with your Foster Carers, Social Workers, or other Support Workers.

If this happens, the best thing is to talk about what’s going on and work together to decide best how to resolve any issues. Many misunderstandings, difficulties and problems can be worked through in this way.

What might be the kind of things would your or someone living with another family complain about?

  • The way you are treated, especially if you feel this to be unfair
  • The rules where you are living
  • Not being asked your views and not being listened to
  • Decisions made about your life that you don't agree with
  • Not having enough contact with family or friends
  • Feeling hurt or badly treated
  • Things that have happened or are happening that you feel are wrong

Who can you tell?

  • Tell your Social Worker
  • Tell a Teacher, Support Worker, or Advocate
  • Tell any of your Care Visions Fostering staff; your Supervising Social Worker, Therapeutic Family Worker, whoever you are in contact with
  • If you would like a Care Visions Senior Manager to get in contact to help, you can email a few details to listenup@carevisions.co.uk or call us on 01324 464 200
  • You can contact anyone you trust to make a complaint - more numbers are on the next section to help too

Will I get in trouble?

No, you will not get in trouble if you complain, it is important that whatever is making you unhappy is put right.

What would happen next?

Within 3 days of receiving your complaint or concern, someone from Care Visions will contact you and arrnage to speak about this. We will try our best to sort things out in around 7 days. However, if it is likely to take longer, you will be told what is being done.

Your social worker will be informed.

A copy of the complaint and actions will be kept on file.

If you are not happy with what has been done, you will be given the opportunity to ask someone else to look into it.

You have the right to say when you are unhappy with something in your life.
