About our hosts:
Dr. Linda de Caestecker - is a seasoned public health expert with over 30 years of experience, including her role as Director of Public Health for Greater Glasgow and Clyde—one of the UK's most challenging areas in terms of health inequalities. With a clinical background in obstetrics and gynaecology, she continues to advise the Scottish Government on health policy and serves as a Board member for both Community Justice Scotland and Glasgow City Mission, where she contributes to vital work in social justice and public health reform.
Scott Kyle - is a best known for his roles as Ross in Outlander, Clancy in The Angels' Share, and Corporal Stu Pearson in the film Kajaki: The True Story. Scott currently fosters with his wife and is an active mentor to young people in Scotland, supporting a youth pathways programme. He understands how the different backgrounds and experiences of young people can impact their lives, and has experience of the care system himself, growing up in the West of Scotland.
Mark Nelis - is an experienced Social Worker, who has more recently moved into the role of Operations Manager with Care Visions Fostering. Mark has a background in; work in a Residential Child Care setting, Local Authority Social Work with Children and Families, before moving to the more specialised area of Fostering to continue his practice. He is proud for the lasting relationships he has helped create and the long placements helped sustained. Much of this he puts down to highly collaborative and supportive working with colleagues and 'the team around the child'. He lives in the West of Scotland with his family and is a prolific fundraiser in his spare time, organising regular charity and community events.
David King - has an extensive career in working with children and families. His Social Care experience extends from work in Residential Child Care to supporting Foster Carers, Children and Young People. His role of Supervising Social Worker with Care Visions has given him a platform to become a Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) Practitioner, using his role as a PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) trainer to help foster carers understand their autonomic nervous system and how this can help shape and guide communication and actions, and that of their children. David is a father of two, living and working in Central Scotland. He has an interest in sports and previously fronted a semi-successful indie-rock band.
