Understanding why distressed young people may behave violently can be challenging. There are often biological, psychological, and environmental factors at play and exploring these can help in understanding the roots of the behaviours and how to best support the young person you care for.
This talk looked to explore:
- Why some children may display aggressive or violent behaviour
- The role of trauma, attachment, and emotional regulation
- Practical ways to de-escalate and respond with empathy
- How to build stronger, safer relationships with children in distress
