Josh MacAlister OBE MP is the UK’s Minister for Children and Families, a role he took up in September 2025. He was elected as Labour MP for Whitehaven and Workington in 2024, bringing with him a long-standing focus on improving life chances for children and families. Before Parliament, Josh founded the social work charity Frontline and went on to lead the independent review of children’s social care in England. His work centres on children’s social care, fostering and adoption, child protection, and supporting care-experienced young people as they move into adulthood.
