Celebrating 10 Years of Fostering with Care Visions

01 June 2026

During Foster Care Fortnight 2026, themed This Is Fostering, Care Visions was proud to celebrate a group of foster carers who have reached the incredible milestone of fostering with us for 10 years.

The celebration event took place at the Clayton Hotel Glasgow, where carers attended alongside partners and guests for an afternoon of recognition, reflection and appreciation. The afternoon included a buffet lunch, a rolling presentation of photographs and personal messages, an informal award ceremony, commemorative engraved glass clocks presented to each recipient, and of course, cake.

The event was led by Care Visions’ Depute Head of Fostering, Lorraine Kubski, who welcomed everyone and reflected on the importance of recognising the commitment of foster carers.

“These occasions are really important to come together and acknowledge the amazing achievements that carers have made in choosing to foster with Care Visions for 10 years. We know that some of you have been fostering for even longer too. It isn’t and shouldn’t be taken for granted. The amount of children and young people you have all positively supported over your time fostering has made a massive impact.”

This year’s award recipients were:

  • Sheila and Sandro Ciancio
  • Angela and Drew French
  • Michelle Singh
  • Mandy and Robert Sommerville
  • Wendy and James Thomson
  • Lynette and Craig Waldie

Throughout the messages shared by supervising social workers, there were clear themes that connected every fostering journey: compassion, resilience, advocacy, stability and unconditional care.

Many of the carers were recognised for creating homes filled with warmth, safety and belonging, while supporting children and young people through both joyful moments and significant challenges. Others were praised for their determination in advocating for children’s needs, their ability to provide long-term stability, and the lasting relationships they continue to maintain with young people long after placements formally end.

Across every story was the same powerful message: fostering changes lives through consistency, patience, love and commitment.

Several carers were also recognised for the way fostering has become part of wider family life, with partners, children and extended family members all playing an important role in creating supportive and nurturing environments where children can thrive.

As part of Foster Care Fortnight’s This Is Fostering theme, the event was a reminder that fostering is made up of thousands of everyday moments of care, support and encouragement that can have lifelong impacts for children and young people.

Everyone at Care Visions would like to thank our carers for their dedication and for the extraordinary difference they continue to make.
