Turning the tide on fostering - meet Eilidh MacDonald
At Care Visions, we believe fostering is for people from all walks of life - and no one embodies that message better than Eilidh MacDonald, our Fostering and Recruitment Coordinator.
A registered social worker with years of experience, Eilidh is often the first friendly voice prospective carers hear. “It starts with an informal chat at a time that suits you,” she explains. “You don’t need to be a homeowner, married, or have a background in care – you just need the motivation, resilience, and heart to make a difference.”
Eilidh is passionate about breaking the myths and barriers around fostering. She helps people recognise the transferable skills they may not even realise they have, offering one-to-one guidance throughout the application process and beyond. “I’m always just a phone call away - whether it’s to talk things over, share resources, or send videos to keep learning up to date.”
“We make sure we support our carers in local communities and benefit from the support from the team and other foster carers” says Eilidh.
Care Visions’ approach is holistic - helping carers build resilience, manage stress, and be the best version of themselves for the children they support. Age is no barrier either: “We have carers in their seventies who are making a huge difference,” Eilidh adds.
Through Family Talk events, wellbeing programmes, and everyday peer connections, Care Visions ensures every carer has the backing of a strong, understanding community.
As Eilidh says: “You’re never on your own here. We’re a team - and in our communities, we create the safe, stable, loving environments children need to thrive.”
