As we celebrate Scottish Apprenticeship week, Abbie tells us what it was like to work as a Care Visions Apprentice, where young people are at the heart of everything we do.
“My role at Care Visions, as one of two apprentice business administrators, has allowed me to work in every department of the office. Not only has this provided me with great experience, but also an appreciation of the role each person plays within the whole Care Visions team.
Each week is different, but every job is equally important. From directing calls and setting up meetings on reception, to handling accounts in finance and applications in HR, it all helps Care Visions provide young people the support they need.
Care Visions also help people in other ways, like me. My apprenticeship was organised through YouTrain, which is how I first learned about Care Visions, through the apprenticeships they offer. As well as what I learn each day at Care Visions, I have regular meetings with my trainer Kim, to work through the different units of my apprenticeship portfolio. There is always help available when you need it and I am learning a lot.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here developing my knowledge and skills, with targets and specific timescales set to challenge myself. My Care Visions colleagues are always supportive, and have made sure I get all the evidence of experience needed to fulfill my portfolio.
I really feel like Care Visions want to improve the lives of young people as much as possible; helping me personally by providing the support and funds for this apprenticeship. At the end of the program I will be awarded a Level 3 Business Administrator Qualification that will allow me to go further in my career and life; I would highly recommend Care Visions to anyone and going through the apprenticeship scheme that was offered to me.”
